STRASTI IN SANJE - PASSIONS & DREAMS
Dance is my life, or a few instructions to be a good hip - hopper
I have been dancing for as long as I can remember. My mum always tells me that, ever since I could walk, whenever they played music, I would vibe to it. She instantly knew what my passion would be. My grandparents would play Andrea Bocelli’s music while my parents mainly listened to Croatian music. When I was in kindergarten, I joined a dance group. At first, I was shy and didn’t want to dance, but then I loosened up and from the videos my parents had made, one can see how much I enjoyed it. When I was in 1 st grade, I started training in hip - hop, and in 3rd grade, I started competing. From that moment on, I cannot imagine my life without dance. Even when I’m on the bus, I mark the dances with my arm and leg movements. Hip - hop doesn’t mean that you can learn choreography to rap or hip - hop music; it can also be a pop song with a nice, quick tempo and some background beats. When you dance hip - hop, you need to do these things to make it look smooth and impressive: have sharp moves, show clear height differences, stay on the beat, complete your moves nicely, and most importantly, make facial expressions. Through facial expressions, you tell a story with your dancing, so it’s important that you don’t just smile or have a blank face, but really put on a performance when you are on stage. I believe that dancing helps you express your emotions and simply let go, allowing your body to respond to the music. What makes a good dancer? When learning a choreography, you should also be able to add some details to the movements that express your style of dancing.
